• The Western Power contract marks Australia’s largest single roll-out of SPS and will replace around 762km of overhead powerlines. Representing a period of significant growth for the Ampcontrol Group in the rollout of innovative solutions for the renewable energy sector.
Ampcontrol Group is set to create more than 200 manufacturing roles across Australia by the end of 2023 as they scale up their operations in response to winning major contracts with a total value of $41m with BHP, Western Power, along with other major players, including telecommunications providers.
Alongside these contracts, Ampcontrol Group company CPS National has been named a key delivery partner of the Western Power contract won by Boundary Power, a joint venture between Ampcontrol and West Australian utility Horizon Power, for the roll out of 101 stand-alone power systems (SPS).
The cumulative job growth associated with the contracts secured in 2022 will see Ampcontrol Group grow by over 200 roles in the next 18 months. Rod Henderson, Ampcontrol Managing Director & CEO, has said it is an exciting time for the Ampcontrol Group to expand in response to industry needs.
“These project wins demonstrate our strength to work with utilities, communications and industry to provide optimal solutions for their needs,” says Mr Henderson.
Ampcontrol is Australia’s largest privately owned electrical engineering company and is very optimistic about expanding its growth.
“Ampcontrol is proud to play an integral role in the uptake of innovative solutions such as SPS across Australia, supporting remote communities by providing a more reliable and cost-effective option through advancing renewable technology rather than traditional poles and wires,” says Mr Henderson.
The Western Power contract marks Australia’s largest single roll-out of SPS and will replace around 762km of overhead powerlines, improve land amenity for farmers and reduce the risk of bushfires. Representing a period of significant growth for the Ampcontrol Group in the rollout of innovative solutions for the renewable energy sector.
Winning these contracts is a confirmation of the Ampcontrol Group’s experience, capability and expertise in electrical engineering solutions. The roll out of power and battery upgrades and solar skids for BHP provide the key first steps in electrifying mine sites and eliminating safety risks to workers; all while keeping manufacturing within Australia.
“At Ampcontrol, we have always felt strongly about keeping manufacturing jobs here in Australia. By winning these contracts with BHP and other businesses, it further reinforces the capabilities of the Ampcontrol Group,” says Mr Henderson.
"This is just the beginning for jobs growth within the Ampcontrol Group as we scale up our operations to deliver innovation solutions to meet the needs of our clients.”
